The Rossi Mezzanotte (8670) pipe is a classic and elegant smoking pipe known for its Italian craftsmanship. Here are some key features:
  1. Shape: The 8670 shape is typically a Bent Dublin shape, which is one of the most popular and traditional pipe shapes. It’s characterized by a straight stem and a cylindrical bowl.
  2. Finish: The Mezzanotte finish refers to a deep, dark stain that gives the pipe a rich and sophisticated appearance. The rugged rustication finish enhances the grain of the briar wood used in making the pipe.
  3. Materials: Made from high-quality briar wood, known for its heat resistance and ability to absorb moisture during smoking.
  4. Stem: Made from acrylic, designed for comfort and durability.
  5. Craftsmanship: Rossi pipes are known for their affordability without compromising on craftsmanship. They are produced by Savinelli, a renowned Italian pipe maker, ensuring quality and attention to detail.

Overall, the Rossi Mezzanotte 8670 pipe combines traditional design with modern materials, making it a popular choice among pipe enthusiasts.

Ferdinando Rossi was one of the pioneers in bringing the production of briar pipes to Italy, a contemporary of Achille Savinelli. And though the two were competitors in business, in their private lives they enjoyed a close friendship. So, it came to be that, just shy of a century after its founding, the Rossi family’s marque came into the care taking of Savinelli, after the former found itself unable to adapt to the changes in the post-WWII tobacconist market. This same old friendship is also one of the reasons why Savinelli has been keen to give the Rossi name new life, as Rossi by Savinelli, focusing on quality, affordable Italian pipes.
